Techniek achter stereolithografie
Stereolithografie is een 3D printtechniek waarbij producten laag voor laag worden opgebouwd, door gebruik te maken van een UV-laser. Deze laser helpt vloeibare fotopolymeerharsen te stollen, wat voor een zeer stevige verbinding tussen de diverse lagen zorgt. Stereolithografie is een printtechniek die vaak voornamelijk gebruikt wordt voor de productie van een prototype. Voor de productie van de definitieve producten zal in veel gevallen voor een andere printtechniek gekozen worden. Dat zit met name in de snelheid van deze techniek. Bij stereolithografie wordt gebruik gemaakt van fotogevoelige harsen. Deze harsen zijn er in verschillende soorten.
Voordelen van deze 3D printtechniek
Net als bijvoorbeeld een printtechniek als Multi Jet Fusie levert ook stereolithografie een zeer nauwkeurig eindresultaat op. Daarnaast profiteert u bij deze printtechniek van een goede oppervlakteafwerking. Zoals reeds genoemd werd, is het nadeel van stereolithografie de lage snelheid waarmee geprint wordt. Deze snelheid ligt lager dan bij een printtechniek als Fused Deposition Modeling. U dient hierbij de afweging te maken tussen nauwkeurigheid en snelheid.
